Eric Baden is a German citizen who has lived in China continuously for the past 20 years. Starting out as a roaster, he became a Q-Arabica Grader and over the past 6 years built Coffee Commune into a full value chain business that is all about great coffee and the credentials to craft it from crop to cup.
Eric’s passion is for the people who connect with Coffee Commune to thrive, enjoy life together, and change the world. Building direct relationships with small coffee farmers in Yunnan in order to equip them to produce high quality, specialty coffee and making these coffees available to specialty roasters and coffee lovers around the world is central to Eric’s work and Coffee Commune’s mission to craft and serve great coffee with fairness and respect for farmers, staff, communities, and consumers.
