BEHMOR
*Official equipment for the Golden Bean engine room
What began in 1997 as a visit to a local roaster/co-op in the cloud forests of Monte Verde, Costa Rica, morphed into personal quest to create an affordable, yet user friendly, home coffee roaster that would enable anyone the means to roast their own coffee and enjoy the true meaning of fresh roasted coffee.
After eight years of research, 250 thousand miles traveled, thousands of tests roasts and countless revisions, we were proud to bring you the Behmor 1600, Winner of the SCAA 2007 Best New Consumer Product. It also marked the beginnings of a new company and brand, Behmor Inc.
That was our beginning and a little over 5 years have passed and Behmor Inc., is now taking a new step in the journey.
As with the Behmor 1600 and in continuing with our goal of bringing fairly priced, yet quality products incorporating innovative ideas and technologies Behmor Inc., now offers the Brazen coffee brewer.
The Brazen brewer took almost four years to go from concept through redesign through innovation to reality all with a defined goal of innovation for a better cup. The Brazen offers never before used patent pending technology of temperature calibration coupled with proven techniques such a pre-soak features, precise and accurate water delivery temperatures to combine for the ultimate in brewed coffee.
Continuing with the legacy of the Brazen brewer Behmor sought to expand its capabilities furthering the use of technology, cloud computing and apps. In 2015 Behmor introduced the Behmor Connected Brewer and immediately people recognized yet again Behmor had once again produced a game changer so much so against hundreds of competitors such as Cuisinart, Stream Soda, Bonavita and others at the Int’l Housewares Associations annual expo in Chicago the Behmor Connected won honors by taking home the Top Innovation Award for 2015
In 2012, Behmor found itself donating roasters to a couple institutions in Central America we came to learn how small farmers in coffee growing regions had never tasted their own coffee thus limiting their ability to improve quality resulting missing on opportunities for higher prices.
As such in 2015 Behmor created Behmor Inspired whose goal was and is to assist these small farmers by providing Behmor 1600 coffee roasters at no to coffee groups and/or national coffee growing organizations. Since starting this program we have donated over 235+ roasters to the national coffee associations of Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador and the IWCA of Burundi. We were told that for every 30 roasters up to 1500 farmers could now have access to roasting equipment which would result in improving/ effecting up to 10,000 lives per 30. It is our goal to expand Behmor Inspired in 2016 in the hopes we can reach a target of 100,000 lives affected through our donations for the time period of 2015 through 2016
While small in size, Behmor Inc’s goals are to leave a large and positive impression on all those who purchase Behmor products while at the same time maintaining and instilling, a social conscience on what we do.
And as a bonus everyone enjoys a great cup of coffee
